INSPIRING: From janitor to principal - Proof that everyone has a purpose
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Sometimes life pushes you into your purpose without you even realising it...
We have learnt from the many stories that we have been exposed to that sometimes when you don't heed the messages from the universe, you are propelled into what you are meant to be doing.
In this case, it was a man named Mike Huss, who had no desire to become a teacher. But it seems life had other plans for him.
After graduating from High School, Huss got a job as a janitor (commonly known as a caretaker in SA) at an elementary school in California.
Others around him, including his family, saw the way he was with the kids and pushed him to reconsider.
It was then that he decided to go back to school and complete his teaching degree.
Not only did he use this opportunity to propel his career forward, but he also used it as a chance to motivate his own son to work towards his goals.
WATCH an interview with him below, courtesy of Facebook.
According to a news source NBC in the Bay Area, he was quoted saying: “I wanted to show my young son that if your dad can do this. If your dad can be the school janitor coaching youth sports, maintain a good grade point average and become a school teacher, you can accomplish anything in this life.”
Huss has also formed a solid foundation with the kids at the elementary school, as they have all witnessed his journey.

His evolution from janitor to teacher and now to principal is nothing short of amazing. And is a true sentiment to wanting something and working hard and smart to achieve it.
"He hopes that he can be the motivation for them to achieve their own goals. “I’m trying to help students believe in themselves that they can accomplish great things if they just stay the course." (NBC)
