UKZN Howard College has some explaining to do...
We cannot even fathom what it must feel like to find out that there was a mistake with your acceptance letter from a university. And the mistake didn't come from your side, but from the university.
The feeling of excitement and success grips many students as they peak into their academic future. With the up and coming release of matric results, many students are overwhelmed with a sense of anxiety and stress.
You can imagine then the shock and horror that some students had to go through when they received acceptance letters to the University of Kwazulu Natal Howard College - and it turned out to be an error!
A technical glitch in the admission system led to a “firm offer” letter, which was intended for only one student, being erroneously sent to a number of students. As soon as the error was identified, the university took steps to correct it. In this regard a new SMS was sent to the applicants and the original admission status was reinstated.- Indu Moodley, from the media liaison office
"The withdrawal text messages read: 'Dear applicant, you may have received a firm offer letter via email today, please note this was due to a technical error and your status remains unsuccessful. Our apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.'" (IOL)

This is certainly heartbreaking to say the least. But as we come closer to the release of the matric results, let's stand together as a community to show support for our students.
It isn't the end of the world, and they should always be reminded of that. There is always a solution and another route that we can help them take.
