Ice-T addresses parenting know-it-alls: "Do not pay attention to anything anyone says on the internet"
Updated | By East Coast Radio
If it's not your kid and no one asked you, then the polite thing to do is...
We have all been privy to some sort of judgment, whether it came from a fellow parent, a family member or just a random stranger who thought they knew better.
But when it comes to preserving your own mental state of peace, it is important to set boundaries. People are always on the prowl waiting to prey on their next victim with their judging ways, and believe it or not, it's always worse for celebrities.
So perhaps we could learn a thing or two from them when it comes to how to handle the online world?
Recently, Ice-T and Coco Austin shared a pic of their five-year-old daughter, all dressed up for her school photo day. They decided to allow her to get her nails done for the photoshoot, so she had French Tip nails.
Many people came to the post with criticism, judging them as parents for allowing her to get acrylic nails at such a young age.
Ice-T was a guest on the talk show, 'The View', and shared his 'view' on the topic of the online 'parenting police'.
Rule one on the internet: Do not pay attention to anything anyone says on the internet. Worry about the people that walk up to you and say things in your real life. Those are the people you should be concerned with. The internet is the world. It’s the world talking, so I don’t pay attention.- Ice-T
He also added that parents should be allowed to parent in their own way and that "every house has its own constitution". We couldn't agree more, each to their own.
The thing is that since social media erupted and people began sharing content that is of a personal nature, which is entirely their right, people feel like they have the right to comment and be included in their lives. Wrong! Yes, you have the freedom to comment, but it's not your place to judge. Mind your business!
"Why she got tips but still breastfeed? Is she a baby or a young woman?,” asked one critic.
Another commented: “I’m sorry but no to tips and makeup at her age. Let her be an adorable little 5 year old.” (Instagram)
