Love is said to be out of our control; a phenomenon that occurs when you meet someone special. The feelings behind love don't always involve a knight in shining armour riding in to save the day, but this story sure came close.

The only questionable thing was that the love stemmed from the death of the woman's husband, who also happened to be the brother of her current love interest

Although it may sound salacious and scandalous to some, the story started from a place of respect and care.

Sire Elliot posted the story on X and said: "I am in Love with my late brother's wife.

"My brother got married to this beautiful lady in August 2020. They had two kids before he passed on. Throughout their marriage, I was in the UK and only came back last year when I lost my brother. After the burial, my family gave her two choices: since she was still young, she could decide to go back to her parents and remarry or whenever she was ready. Secondly, she can still stay in her husband's house, and whenever she finds a man, she can get married and move on with her life. She's just 25 years old. So she chose to stay and mourn her husband."

He said he stuck around and often paid them visits, even getting gifts for the kids. He did it without any ill intention but somewhat out of love and respect for his brother, thinking that if he were not here one day, his brother would do the same for him and his children.

Bear in mind that the brother sharing the story was single and did not have any children. By being there for his sister-in-law and the kids, he developed feelings for her, so he decided to stay away to avoid causing any drama.

"I tried to fight the feelings by not going there often, but she would call me whenever the kids asked me or wanted something. Even as I stayed away, I couldn't get her off my head. This was just six months after my brother's death. I struggled for two months to kill that feeling, but it wasn't easy.

"One afternoon, she called me and asked if I was avoiding her and the kids or if there was anything she had done wrong." (X)

He shared that he went back to spend time with them and was honest about his feelings. His sister-in-law was afraid of what people would say. Nevertheless, they pursued a relationship, and now she is carrying his baby. He asked for advice from X users, saying he wants to share the news with their families but fears how it will go down.

Bukola of God said: "I don't think there's anything wrong in it, as long as the brother is no longer alive. And I'm sure the later brother in heaven will be happy with this development. Nobody can take care of her than this brother cos he is family. BTW, some cultures allow this."

David Pine: "I don't think anything is wrong with what he has done; he should be courageous to tell the family and move on with his life."

Jet Daniel: "In some traditions, this is okay. Speak to your family and hers. They’re in better hands with you than an outsider. I don’t think there would be a problem."

Da-Yne: "This is totally a bombshell, from the whole details dropped here, I'll say you both are aligned beyond mere entanglement, this is true love and not some infatuation. The next details I'll need is to know, what does your family cultural norms and values support?"
