How safe is it to drink plastic bottled water?
Updated | By East Coast Radio
It feels like the more research that is done, the more anxious we become.
The convenience and ease that comes with buying a bottle of water is something that appeals to many people.
But it seems that isn't quite as good for you as you might think.
Water may be good for you, but plastic bottled water seems to be riddled with particles of plastic that are naked to the eye.
Talks of water being riddled with plastic particles isn't news for many of us, but it's the amount of plastic particles that is of concern now, according to a new study.
"A typical one-litre (33-ounce) bottle of water contains some 240,000 plastic fragments on average, according to a new study. Many of those fragments have historically gone undetected, the researchers determined, suggesting that health concerns linked to plastic pollution may be dramatically underestimated." "Nanoplastics pose a greater threat to human health than microplastics because they’re small enough to penetrate human cells, enter the bloodstream and impact organs. Nanoplastics can also pass through the placenta to the bodies of unborn babies." (Daily Maverick)
