"Floods and landslides have killed at least 100 people in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil."
The floods in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil have caused turmoil and tragedy.
"After a week of record-breaking rainfall in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil is experiencing an environmental and humanitarian tragedy. The death toll from the floods is in the dozens. The number of missing persons has surpassed 100. Hundreds are injured, and thousands are displaced. Nearly 1.5 million people are affected." (World Resources Institute)
As the floods reach catastrophic levels, we see the most unusual sight. This time it was all about a horse.
Video footage of a horse standing by its lonesome on a rooftop surrounded by the flooded waters has hit social media.
In the video, we see the beautiful stallion standing motionless on the top of what looks like a tin-roofed building. A symbol of loneliness and immense desperation was witnessed in this desperate soul waiting to meet his fate.
Thankfully, the horse was rescued by emergency workers after being trapped on the rooftop for several days.
"The animal, dubbed Caramelo on social media, had been balancing on two narrow strips of slippery asbestos in Canoas, a city in the Porto Alegre metropolitan area that is one of the hardest-hit areas in the state, much of which has been isolated by floodwaters." (The Guardian)
