Heroic teen saves classmates as bus driver passes out

This is a great example of a child who knows about situational awareness...

We did a piece about teaching your kids about situational awareness recently.

The importance of them learning how to respond to varied situations is limitless. A 13-year-old boy proved this recently.

When his school bus driver began feeling dizzy and passed out whilst driving, he was able to take charge and save everyone on the bus.

In the video, we hear the bus driver call in over the radio that he is feeling dizzy and needs to pull over.

As he latches the radio back in place, he starts shaking and eventually passes out.

The bus loses control and the kids in the bus start screaming. Dillon Reeves, 13, rushes to the front of the bus and takes control of the steering wheel.

His ability to stay calm and ask someone to call 911 is exactly what most parents would want their kids to do.

We loved this person's comment on the Instagram post:

"Most people panic and shut down in stressful situations. This kid is an absolute super star and hero. He didn’t even stop to check in with the driver when he arrived up front. He just handled the most pressing issue—stopping the bus. Then he handled the second most pressing issue, “someone call 911.” What an amazing kid! Everyone saying “I bet his parents are so proud,” of course they are. But more importantly I hope Dillon recognizes how heroic he was and he’s proud of himself! I hope he recognizes not everyone could or would be able to handle this in the way he did. Amazing!"
