Which one is your favourite?
We heard about everyone getting excited about enjoying their pick from the Choice Assorted biscuits this festive season. And in all honesty, we all have our favourites and part of the list has got to be the Nestlé Passions...
That one packet of chocolates where you can have a bite-size version of all your favourites. Just like anything with many choices, there is the option of picking out your favourites. The joy of seeing the wrapping of your favourites is where the fun lies, even as an adult you get excited about finding the one you are passion-ate about...(Just thought we would throw that play on the word in there)...
No doubt that Nestlé is one of the biggest chocolate names in South Africa and when it comes to celebrating some of our favourites, they know what to do to get us excited. Place all our favourites in a bag of Nestlé Passions!
A bag of Passions includes tiny versions of Bar-One, Aero, Tex, Smarties, Milkybar, Peppermint Crisp, Rolo, and Crispy wafer, which is an off-brand of Kit Kat.
"Each bag of Passions contains a 300g assortment of each of these chocolate types, and costs between R90 and R110 each." (Business Insider) And as we know, it is something that is popular around this time of year.
But like with anything in life, there has to be balance. And according to Business Insider, who conducted an unofficial study, a bag of Nestlé Passions does not offer a fair mix of each variation of chocolate.
So basically they found that there are more of some chocolates and less of others. "According to industrial engineer Gabriel Roodt, companies like Nestlé invest a significant amount in determining the mix of these bags - and the final balance is usually the result of several factors, including economics and marketing." (Business Insider)
There's certainly a cost factor, and they price it per bag. They factor in how many of the cheapest and most expensive varieties to include, and they'll make the bag up like that.- Gabriel Roodt

The sad reality for consumers is that companies tend to include less of the popular chocolates so that consumers buy more so that they can get their fix.
The good news in their latest review of a bag of Passions revealed that Nestlé has settled into a "reasonably consistent bag makeup." However if you are a fan of Peppermint Crisp and Rolo, then make sure to be the first to get to the bag this festive season, because these were the least amount contained in the bag.
