An energy-saving tip to help cut your costs

An energy-saving tip to help cut your costs

With the cost of living constantly on the rise, it may be wiser to teach your family how to save energy, rather than simply accepting higher consumption and the bills that come with it.

As the cost of electricity and water continues to rise, it’s becoming more important than ever to rethink even the simplest daily habits.

Everyday tasks like reheating food in the microwave or boiling the kettle may seem insignificant, but learning how to use these appliances more efficiently can help cut costs and make a noticeable difference to your monthly bill.

A content creator and renewable energy specialist recently shared a practical energy-saving tip that not only made perfect sense but also shed light on how energy is consumed – and ultimately, how we’re charged for it.

DJ Wes Reddy recently shared a simple yet effective tip for saving energy when using your kettle: only boil the amount of water you actually need.

Instead of filling the kettle to the top, he suggests boiling just two cups if that’s all you need. Boiling a full kettle takes around six minutes, while boiling two cups takes just two.

"Energy is used with power over time," he explained. "So if you boil the full kettle and only use two cups and then boil again later, that is a waste."
