What every women wants to hear...
From having a big butt and never being able to find the right pair of jeans or flattering clothes, to a complete 180 degree shift where women are lining up to get surgery so that they can have butt implants.
How life changes when someone owns their body in a positive light. One of the things that got trendy really fast was the trend to have a big, round, bubble, bootilicious bottom. From Jlo to Kim Kardashian, women began celebrating their curvy bottoms and walking around with pride over them.
Clothing brands started thinking outside of the box when it came to designing for larger, curvier women - the women who naturally shook what their mama gave them but weren't always so proud of it because of the public perception of what having a big toosh meant...
Well, the great news is that we can celebrate our big butts even more now that a research study of 16,000 women revealed that women with larger rears aren't only more intelligent, but they are also extremely resistant to chronic illnesses. (Your Tango)
Professor Konstantinos Manolopoulos, the lead researcher of the study and Honorary Consultant in Endocrinology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, said: "The idea that body fat distribution is important to health has been known for some time. However, it is only very recently that thigh fat and a large hip circumference have been shown to promote health; that lower body fat is protective by itself." (Your Tango)

The study revealed some key insights into women who have larger posteriors. It was noticed that they have lower levels of cholesterol and glucose, as well as higher levels of Omega 3 fats (which have been shown to catalyse brain development).
"Having a big butt also favors leptin levels in the female body, which is a hormone responsible for regulating weight, and the dinopectina, a hormone with anti-inflammatory, heart-healthy, and anti-diabetic benefits. In addition, the adipose tissue of the butt traps harmful fatty particles and prevents cardiovascular disease." (Your Tango)
It's important to note though that having belly fat and and upper body fat is not linked to the study and therefore it is not safe to assume that if you do have a large rear end coupled with the above that you are healthy.
These studies are not the be all and end all, they just open our eyes to another way of looking at our bodies and appreciating them...
