The pandemic really took a toll on many people, especially students. Switching from face-to-face learning to online was not an easy transition.

This is one of the reasons that for 23-year-old Sithembile Mthembu from Mayville, completing her exams at any cost was the only option.

In this case, "at any cost" meant completing her exams whilst in labour...

Talk about pushing through no matter what!

"Sithembile Mthembu, a Durban University of Technology (DUT) graduate, was minutes away from giving birth to her baby girl but opted to write her final exam before pushing out her baby girl." (MSN)

She was completing her diploma in Library and Information Studies at DUT and shared with a publication that even though she was in labour, her exam was the only thing on her mind.

As you can imagine, her delay must've caused some stress on baby, but thankfully she and her baby girl are doing well.

She explained to Daily Sun: "I had to push for my test before pushing the baby out. I had no other option because I was funded by NSFAS and had to make sure I pass all my modules so I graduate in time."

It takes a certain level of dedication and responsibility to do what she did - and we can understand that she wanted to bring her baby into the world without the stress of not completing her examinations.

That says a lot about her character and the future young lady she will be raising...

Her story has a happy ending, as baby Siphosethu is now three weeks old and doing well.

"Mthembu officially walked the stage as a graduate on Friday 15 July and hopes to reach PhD level and publish a book." (MSN)
