Durban Foodie shares her grandma's ginger milk recipe
Updated | By East Coast Radio
A wonderfully perfect warm drink known to help with colds and flu...
Talk to any Indian grandmother (and most mothers), and they will tell you to have Ginger Milk when you are not feeling well.
Between Ginger Milk and Rasam, most families strengthen their immunity using homemade concoctions that have worked for generations. Migrating to wholesome and traditional recipes to combat colds and flu isn't new-age.
Over the years, these recipes have become popular and hit supermarket shelves. Vitamin shots contain all the spices most people have in their pantries; staples like ginger, turmeric, lemon, cinnamon, etc. have benefits and loads of vitamins.
Priyanka Govender, a Durban food and lifestyle influencer, was featured on East Coast Radio before with her grandmother.
Govender, who goes by the handle, Inspired By Pri's Food, is a young Durbanite who has a strong foundation in traditional cooking, but is also able to express herself through food.
Priyanka shared a video of her grandmother's ginger milk recipe, which got many people feeling a sense of nostalgia. A drink that many Indian households migrate to during the cold and flu season, but it is also a great immunity booster that people enjoy every now and then.
