Doctors kept telling her that she was overweight, meanwhile it was ovarian cancer...

Like, seriously, that's not at all acceptable...
When you are not feeling well, the most common thing to do is visit the doctor. We have this sense of limitless trust in medical professionals, almost as if we look to them to be our saviours.
Sometimes, it isn't quite fair. Because they are human too, and they can err. However, as humans we search for the resolution, we yearn for someone to uphold that role of caretaker. We look for them to say, "It's going to be okay...".
So, in essence, there is nothing worse than realising that a doctor has let you down, by acting negligently. That's what happened with this woman, who was wrongfully diagnosed.
"Hannah Catton, 24, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after years of telling doctors about her symptoms. For years she had had symptoms including bloating, feeling full, irregular periods, and frequent urinary tract infections. Doctors in both England and Australia told her they were not concerned." Hannah shared that during one of her last doctor's appointments, she felt like the doctor did not examine her properly. The doctor told her to lose weight... Now that of all things is disconcerting, because Hannah said that she is physically fit and it was difficult hearing that.

It took Hannah collapsing in October last year for her condition to garner some serious assistance. What the doctors first thought was an ectopic pregnancy, was actually a 20cm cancerous tumour that had burst.
Now Hannah is going through her chemotherapy and as much as she is doing it alone, due to the pandemic, she says it's going well. Her aim is to raise awareness, and "help other women advocate for themselves more", and request additional tests. (BBC)
It's not the first time we have heard about someone who was misdiagnosed by a medical professional, the sad reality is that it probably won't be the last time. But as a person, it's important to remember that we have the biggest responsibility when it comes to our health and well-being.
We have the responsibility to make sure to follow up, seek more advice, question the medical experts. Because at the end of the day, it's your body, you are feeling the pain, you know your body better than the doctor...
