Criminals open fire on truck in Eastern Cape
Updated | By East Coast Radio
The quick thinking from the driver led them to safety.
Watching out for criminals is an ongoing thing that most South Africans must do daily.
Even though we are aware of the effects that come with being a survivor of crime, no one can say with complete confidence that they are ever fully prepared for the experience.
As we embark on the first day of a new month, we wanted to share this footage from June 2024 with you, not as a reminder of all the darkness that comes with crime, but with the silver lining.
A video that was shared on social media shows how a truck driver and two passengers were surprised by criminals on a deserted road in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, on 25 June 2024.
The truck driver and the passengers were travelling on Rocklands Road when they came across criminals who attempted to stop the truck and opened gunfire.
We see the perspective of the driver, his passengers, and the criminals who walk in the middle of the road. The driver kept his composure and managed to avoid the hijacking.
