Carol Ofori's top three Woman Crush Wednesdays for 2021

Being part of a community of women that breathe creativity, bravery, passion, and so much more is absolutely invigorating. So when it comes to our Woman Crush Wednesdays, we have been absolutely overwhelmed with the diversity of the women around us. 

This year, our team focused on the theme of the 'Unshaken' woman for Women's Month, and it really shook us to find out some intimate and inspiring stories from our own cast of females at East Coast Radio. Our very own Carol Ofori shared such a special message about financing as an adult and it was so impactful, we wanted you to listen to it, check it out below:

This was the most powerful woman crush for us, it's a dedication to all the mothers out there who should trust their gut when it comes to doing what's best for their family. Sometimes we put a high value on what other people think and say, especially as mothers. 

But this mother and father decided to make a bold move of moving their family into a bus. They were both realistic about their decision as well as confident in their approach. The last we spoke to Liezel Jooste, she told us that they were still working on some refurbishments and that she would love to have Carol over for a visit.

Then we had a story about one of Carol Ofori's friends. She shared a very heart-wrenching story about her home invasion ordeal. Her words, her emotions, and her strength got us tongue tied, scared, but most of all, empowered. 

She created a reenactment of the day, merged with actual footage from the day. We left this woman crush post feeling like there is always hope, there may be crime, there may be hate, but there is always a way to overcome. 

And this is what she did, she overcame her fears, the odds, and becoming a statistic. Thank you, Nomthi Mnisi, for sharing your story with us, and for being vulnerable, it shows great strength.

The third and final crush has got to be Durban artist, Kate. The girl that shared the story of coming out to the world with a beautiful and meaningful song. Kate's story is so special because she represents a big part of the LGBTQIA+ community, who have had a tough time being accepted on their journeys. 

She not only shared her story with us, but she also got her song played on the East Coast Radio Top 40 and it was so exciting for us to see the joy and emotion that came with it.
