Sometimes in life, you may start in one career and then end up in a completely different area of work.

We call that finding your purpose.

Our woman crush this Wednesday, Nomfundo Mcoyi is a woman who started her career as an educator and she levelled up as a businesswoman. She found her calling as a businesswoman when she founded Icebolethu Funerals 10 years ago which has grown to be Icebolethu Group, a conglomerate comprised of 8 companies.

Not only is she a multi-skilled entrepreneur she is also a community builder.

She has grown the Icebolethu Group in the last decade and has over 100 branches in KZN including one in the United Kingdom. The group employs over 1000 staff and the funeral division holds over 400 000 funeral policies to date making it one of the leaders in the industry.

She has managed to excel in the funeral and financial sector which is highly regulated, and through Icebolethu Academy she is empowering smaller businesses in her industry by providing training on the various industry regulations and guidelines.

Of course, it is never ideal to talk about death and prepare for a funeral, but being prepared for the inevitable is the most responsible thing to do.

Mcoyi is a mother to three young adults and is also in the process of writing her first cookbook to express her love for cooking.

"She is also the Founder and Chairperson of Icebolethu Foundation which has established a host of initiatives that are geared towards improving the lives of underprivileged communities including building homes for families in need.

She also mentors 50 young girls through the Rhoda Girls initiative which is a holistic programme that is empowering young African women to be the best they can be and be leaders in society."

We love how this KZN woman has bloomed in her business and has also made time to uplift her community.
