'Bluey' event leaves kids crying and parents fuming

Yikes, this might be worse than just saying the show is cancelled...

Event hosting takes hard work, including planning, advertising and marketing, catering, safety and security, licensing, etc.

Over and above all of that, many event organisers fail to consider the 'What ifs'. A restaurant in Las Vegas, USA, decided to host a Bluey Day, thinking it might be an excellent way to attract customers.

They had the right idea, theming the event on the popular hit animation series focusing on the lives of the Heeler dogs, Chilli and Bandit, and their two girls, Bluey and Bingo. But they failed at execution and did not imagine they would get 3,000 RSVPs.

The popular animated series isn't just a kid-pleaser but is also quite popular with adults. Have you watched the episode 'The Sign'? Video courtesy of YouTube

The day, entitled Bluey Day, promised to be a day for the family, with activities such as face painting, Bluey-themed treats, Games and Bluey giveaways, watching 'Bluey' episodes, and, of course, a meet-and-greet with Bluey and friends.

"The Vegas location of the Dirt Dog restaurant chain hosting the event created a Facebook event for families — 341 people indicated that they would be attending the event and another 2,600 indicated they were 'interested'." (Today)

The interested parties did attend because when many families arrived at around 11am, they found a queue of people waiting to get into the restaurant.

  • "My grandbaby is so disappointed. We waited in line basically to order food. Bluey isn’t Bluey ... just a man in pjs, and they ended face painting early. Half the screens are playing 'Bluey'. The other half are playing sports." (Today)

Check out the news story that included snippets from the event. It is safe to say this was an epic failure for many parents. It all boiled down to the man in the Bluey-themed pyjamas...
