If you haven't been living under a rock, then you've probably heard of Beri Nice Sunday Seafood Boil at Ground Zero in Malvern, KZN.

This unique dining experience has quickly become a must-visit, topping bucket lists and growing in popularity by the day. And at the heart of it all is the woman behind the Beri Nice brand – a true champion of her culture.

Bereniece Mundri, a 35-year-old wife and mother from Chatsworth, started this venture with a simple idea. Just six months later, she was running one of KZN’s most sought-after foodie experiences.

Mundri credits her husband for inspiring her to take the plunge. As the owner of Paul's Offals, a family business that has been providing fresh, high-quality products for over 36 years, his passion for quality ingredients helped spark the vision behind this seafood sensation.

So how did it all start? "During the rise of ASMR and food videos on YouTube and TikTok, where influencers made waves by cooking and eating seafood boils," says Mundri.

"Curious, I decided to take the fresh seafood products from my husband's shop and experiment with my version, infusing the dish with South African and Indian flavours to create something unique. I was determined to craft a seafood boil that was both delicious and full of bold, exciting flavours.

"What began as a fun cooking project during Covid-19 quickly became more prominent. After posting a video of myself enjoying my homemade seafood boil on TikTok, the response was overwhelming. People started asking where they could buy it and how much it cost. My husband jokingly suggested I start selling it, and that’s precisely what I did."

She initially made it for friends and family, and it was an instant hit. People fell in love with the bold, vibrant flavours, and their enthusiasm fuelled her passion.

With their encouragement, what started as a home-cooked meal quickly turned into a thriving small business.

When asked how things were going, Mundri is honest and humble.

"It hasn’t been easy, but with hard work, dedication, and a focus on delivering top-notch customer experiences, my seafood boil business is thriving," she says.

"What started as a personal passion has turned into a global sensation. I’m now doing seafood boil pop-up tours and have big plans for the future. I envision expanding the Beri Nice Seafood Boil brand across South Africa, opening my space, and turning it into a tourist attraction where everyone can come and enjoy the flavour.

"The success of my business is a testament to the love and support from my amazing customers. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I’m incredibly humbled and grateful for this opportunity."

If you’re craving this experience, you’re in luck! The Beri Nice Seafood Boil starts at R400 per meal, with deliveries available on select Saturdays and Sundays at Ground Zero.

Beri Nice has also launched a new dish for those who don’t eat seafood but still want to enjoy the full Beri Nice experience.

Introducing the Charous ShisaNyama Tray – a South African-inspired feast that blends traditional flavours with the signature Beri Nice touch.

This dish offers a twist on the South African braai concept, featuring perfectly marinated and char-grilled meats: lamb chops, lamb ribs, lamb kebabs, mutton sausage, chicken wings, and chicken skewers. It’s served with a green salad, baked beans, chutney samples, potato salad, garlic bread, and potato fries. To top it all off, the dish is drizzled with the signature Beri Nice Cajun Peri-Peri sauce for an added burst of flavour.

Although this dish has only been on the menu for two weeks, it’s already becoming a customer favourite.

Mundri credits her success to her customers, her team, and the passion that comes from doing what she loves.
