5-year-olds share their ideas on how to spend govt money

Ladies and gentlemen, this is our future, and we love what they have to say...

Kids have the potential to be the idea generators of our country – and perhaps even the world.
Some may call that an overstatement, but in many ways, children offer the purest and most practical insights into what society truly needs.
They envision a world free from unnecessary complications, corruption, and inefficiency – a society where care, empathy, and problem-solving take priority over issues like kickbacks, failing infrastructure, and water or load shedding.
Recently, the eNCA news team interviewed five-year-olds about their views on the national budget and how they would spend it. Their responses were inspiring.
While the postponement of the 2025 Budget Speech has caused concern, the President has reassured us that this is just simply democracy in action – not a crisis or “fatal fallout”.

South Africa’s youth approached the budget question with a thoughtful focus on helping the less fortunate, particularly the elderly and those experiencing homelessness.
Although we might have expected them to prioritise fun and entertainment, they instead made us proud by highlighting healthcare, education, poverty, access to clean water, food security, and, surprisingly, even the defence force.
The young ladies of St Theresa’s School in Craighall Park shared their insightful perspectives in an interview with eNCA anchor Jenna-Leigh Bilong.
Have a look at some of the comments people wrote on the post.
"Can they make the last kid Minister of Defense? At this point, we have nothing to lose."
"Is there any way we can vote for them for the next cabinet?"
"So what I've gathered here is that these babies want better sanitation, housing for the poor, improved health care, an increase in funding for the defense forces, and free education for the poor!"
"I don’t know the primary school curriculum but these kids are clued up."
