There’s something about the beach that always leaves us wanting more.

With school holidays in full swing and the weekend approaching, we thought it was the perfect time to share some clever hacks if you decide to visit the beach

If you’ve ever felt like you bring home more sand than you left on the beach, these tips will come in handy.

1. Secure your towel: Tuck the corners into the sand to keep it in place and minimise sand buildup.

2. Protect your phone: Cover the charging port with a plaster to prevent sand from getting inside, which can cause damage.

3. Hidden storage hack: Place your valuables in a container and secure your flip-flop to the lid. Bury the container in the sand, leaving only the flip-flop visible – this clever trick makes it look like an abandoned shoe rather than a hiding spot.

4. Flip-flop fix: If your flip-flop strap is loose or about to break, use a hairband to secure it. Check out the video below for a quick visual guide.

3. Rinse-off trick: Fill a plastic bag with seawater after your swim and take it back to your spot on the beach. Dip your feet in before stepping onto your towel to keep sand at bay.

This is one of the few times plastic bags belong at the beach – aside from collecting your litter.
