Animals
The showgrounds host thousands of animals every year including poultry, rabbits, cattle, horses, gods, sheep and goats in a variety of competitions, shows and exhibits. You can go from watching a sheep shearing demonstration to following the excitement of the Mounted Games and then a Cattle show competition in just a few hours!
Music
The ECR Royal Rock concert will be held on the 26th May 2018, Saturday, where show-goers can expect local legends Matthew Mole, Matt Gardiner and Mi Casa to wow the crowds with their funk and groove. The RSG Afrikaans Musiek Konsert will feature various popular artists such as Die Singende Cowboy, Elizma Theron, Refentse, and Brendan Peyper. These Afrikaans musical legends will take to the stage to showcase the best in local talent for your enjoyment. The RSG Afrikaans Musiek Konsert will take place on the 27th May 2018, Sunday.
The Royal Hindvani Extravaganza and Bhangra will be hosted by Hindvani community radio station, showcasing the best in dance and bhangra talent! Catch this event on the 2nd June 2018!
The uMgungundlovu Youth Festival will feature awesome artists in kwaito, electronic and hip hop music such as L’vovo, Beezory, DJ Happy Gal and more… Hosts from Gagasi FM will also be on stage to entertain the crowds. Enjoy this musical event on Sunday the 3rd of June!
Funfair
Happyland Amusements presents a joyous funfair for kids of all ages to enjoy throughout the Royal Show. Tickets prices are only R10 per ticket and rides take between 1 to 5 tickets per ride. Discounted booklets worth R300 will sell for only R200 for Super Friday, 1st of June between 17:00pm to 22:00pm.
Thrills for All
The Royal Show 2018 will see a number of thrilling events and activities taking place for the exclusive delight of show-goers.
Soweto Towers ON THE GO will have a mobile bungee and SCAD freefall facility for attendees to enjoy. Cost of Bungee per person is R300.00 and cost of SCAD Freefall per person is R250.00. For the duration of the show, the cost of doing both activities in one go is R500.00 per person.
The Monster FMX ‘Flight Night’ will thrill show goers with amazing freestyle motocross tricks on the 17:30 on the 1st June and 2nd June 2018!
The Royal Show will host an epic Drone Racing Competition where some of South Africa’s top Drone Raving pilots will showcase their dexterous talent. Catch this crazy event on 3rd June 2018, Sunday, from 09:00 to around midday.
The KZN leg of the Toyota SA National Young Auctioneer Competition is taking place on the 28th May 2018, Monday. The competition was launched to promote the livestock auctioneering profession among young people in South Africa!
A Commercial Goat Auction of indigenous veld goats will be held this year to promote the resilient indigenous breeds that could change the face of the South African goat meat industry for the better. The auction takes place on Sunday the 27th May 2018 in Ring 1 of the Sheep and Goat Section.
The Royal Symphony will dazzle show-goers with moving classical performances under the bright African skies. Catch the symphony on Sunday, 27th May 2018 at 10:00 in the Main Arena!
For another rush of adrenaline, watch the Powasol EduroX Series wherein the country’s best bikers deliver wild motorcycle action. The biking thrills kick off on Saturday, 2nd June 2018 and 3rd June from 09:00 each day until 16:00.
Snacks and Treats
Everything you need to know about this year’s Royal Show is not complete until you have the low-down on snacks! Everything from fried chips, grilled marinates chicken and sticky ribs down to spicy wings, pancakes, samosas and dried fruit will be on sale! These and many more yummy snack foods will be available for everyone’s delight.
Food Delights
Food of every kind will be available for enjoyment in the Royal Food Market in Block E of the showgrounds.
