Everything You Need to Know About the Royal Show
No matter how riotous and exciting the Royal Show gets, we will never let you fall out of step with the times, dates, events, attractions, food stands and exhibits that you can catch at the Show! From animals to music to funfairs, we have got you covered with a super speedy recap of everything you need to know about the Royal Show!
Animals
The showgrounds host thousands of animals every year including poultry, rabbits, cattle, horses, gods, sheep and goats in a variety of competitions, shows & exhibits. You can go from watching a sheep shearing demonstration to following the excitement of the Mounted Games and then a Cattle show competition in just a few hours!
Music
The ECR Royal Rock Concert will be held on the 25th May 2019, Saturday, where attendees can expect local legends Holly Rey, Good Luck, Sutherland and Kyle Deutsch to wow the crowds with their incredible sounds. The The Royal Symphony Concert, presented by The Royal Show in association with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Revival, takes place on the morning of Sunday 26th May from 10h00 on the Great Stage of the Main Arena.
The Battle of the DJs: Sisonke Music Festival at the Royal Show 2019 Festival will feature awesome artists in kwaito, electronic and hip-hop music. Don't miss your chance to attend the biggest concert to hit KZN this decade!
We are calling all RnB, Hip Hop and House DJs from across KZN to compete to see who’s the best on the 1s and 2s with the top winner walking away with a music bursary and other amazing prizes. Each DJ will get a 5-8 minute set to show their ability and crush the crowd. Entrants will need to display their passion, determination and technical ability. Fancy yourself a DJ? Then be sure to enter the Battle of the DJs competition - here's how:
1. Send your 5-8 minute SoundCloud DJ mix to [email protected].
2. A R150 entry fee will apply to all entrants.
Funfair
Happyland funfair will once again provide entertainment to all the visitors at the Royal Show 2019. Anyone who attends the Royal Show 2019 is promised a thrilling time at the Happyland Amusements funfair, open every day of the Show.
Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy the Ferris Wheel, Shells, Bumper Cars, Break Dancer, Runaway Train, Energy, Rotor, Crazy Wave and many more rides. We have also added some new rides like Drop Zone and Giant Slide.
To get in on the action, you will need to secure your tickets to the Royal Show as soon as possible. You can do that right here!
At the funfair, ticket prices are just R10 per ticket, with each ride taking between one and four tickets depending on the size of the ride. Discount special on Super Friday, 31 May; The Funfair will provide a booklet of 20 R10 tickets for R150 (valid from 17h00 to 22h00 on the day).
The 2019 Royal Show National Carcass Competition & Auction
The most prestigious event on the South African red meat calendar, this is a splendid occasion for buyers, butchers and restaurants to compete for lamb, beef and pork judged to be the best in the country. It is also an opportunity for winning bidders to capitalise on the exposure and publicity this brings their establishments. Held on 28th May, 2019 at 15h00 in the Sheep Expo Hall & Sponsored by Landbouweekblad, RPO, The Royal Agricultural Society, De Heus, BKB and Booysens Refrigeration. Snacks & Treats
Everything you need to know about this year’s Royal Show is not complete until you have the low-down on snacks! Everything from fried chips, grilled marinates chicken and sticky ribs down to spicy wings, pancakes, samosas and dried fruit will be on sale! These and many more yummy snack foods will be available for everyone’s delight.
Food Delights
Food of every kind will be available for enjoyment in the Royal Food Market in Block E of the showgrounds. Herbs, health products, catering services, NPOs raising funds, coffee, tea, grilled munchies and fried confections will suit just about any palette that walks into the Royal Show.
