East Coast Radio commemorates Mandela Day with 67 minutes of music
Updated | By East Coast Radio
South African favourites Mi Casa and Holly Rey joined East Coast Radio personalities Darren Maule, Stacey and JSbu in a 67-minute live music event on Saturday, 18 July. The event was streamed on Quicket, raising funds in support of the East Coast Radio Big Favour initiative.
East Coast Radio presenters, Stacey and JSbu together with Darren Maule recorded a song “Come Together” paying tribute to the late tata Madiba. JSbu being a seasoned DJ, laid the beat. Stacey who retired her vocals back in primary school, showed off her vocal range and love for music as the lead vocalist on the song and Darren Maule just needed to be in on the fun and did some harmonising.
The song was released during the live event alongside performances by musicians; Mi Casa and Holly Rey, who gave attendees an exclusive showcase of their latest singles.
“I am always so excited to work with East Coast Radio because they support local music and artists. It’s an honour to be performing for an event that pays tribute to our hero. With lockdown and so much going on right now it’s a pleasure to be bringing joy through music,” said Holly.
SA’s most popular music trio, Mi Casa also joined the event live from their home studio where they performed songs from their brand-new album called “We Made It”.
“It was an honour to be apart of this event and to play our part and come together to raise some money and just spread some love and we’re excited to share our new music with everyone,” said lead vocalist, J Something.
All proceeds that were raised will be donated to The Big Favour and used throughout the year.
The Big Favour has changed and uplifted thousands of lives across the province of KZN for over 17 years.
Beautifully displaying the spirit of Ubuntu, this feature is synonymous for bringing together communities and giving people a second chance at life or even a head start.
