What do the blue ticks on Whats App mean?
Updated | By tanstan fourie
WhatApp is an instant messaging application only for smartphone users.
The application has now implemented a new feature – blue ticks - and it has got social media abuzz.
In case you didn’t know what the blue ticks mean, check it out here:
1 tick, sent but not delivered
2 grey ticks, delivered.
2 blue ticks, seen!
Many will welcome this new change but there are some who will be quite annoyed .
Here is what some of the Breakfast team members had to say about the new feature:
George – Don’t care, I haven’t updated my WhatsApp yet
Mike – Meh.
For me, WhatsApp replaces SMS as a means of text communication. People not responding to me doesn't agitate me that much because ultimately the world as we know it will not come to an end.
Sometimes I'm able to read and respond.
Sometimes I'm only able to read at that very moment.
Sometimes, I admit, I forget to respond.
Sometimes when I do respond WhatsApp can't send because of poor cellphone signal.
Sometimes my phone is charging.
Sometimes this applies to the person I'm texting.
Bottom line: 2 blue ticks are just 2 blue ticks. Nothing.
Darren – Hate it!
Natarah – Not sure if I'm happy about the changes. It should work like emails. You can choose whether you want the sender to see you've acknowledged the email. It's not nice being forced into something like this.
Gabs – Not cool!
Alain – Are you kidding me, I think it’s retarded
Tanya – Kill me now
Kevlar Kev – I don’t care
A couple of awesome memes have appeared on social media:
Here are some of the Tweets that had the team in stitches:

Before yesterday everyone wanted WhatsApp to have the "read" feature. Now when they added that in, everyone complains about it.
