VIDEO: Cricket Bat vs. Gunshot analysis
Alexander Jason, an expert witness in crime scene analysis, has recreated the scene of Oscar Pistorius' bathroom door. He shows the difference between hitting a door with a cricket bat and gunshots fired at the door.

He's an expert witness in crime scene analysis, blood spatter interpretation, shooting incident analysis and reconstruction and forensic ballistics.
His primary interest is in the reconstruction of shooting incidents.
He performs firearms and ballistic research with high-speed videos, still camera systems and a Doppler ballistic radar system.
The following video illustrates an experiment to determine if a bat strike on a wooden door could produce a sound similar to a gunshot - when heard at a distance. It was an attempt to recreate what Oscar Pistorius' neighbours might have heard on February 14, 2013.
Alexander found that a bat strike on a wood door can produce a sound similar to a gunshot.
