VIDEO: Apps that intentionally get you lost!
Updated | By Rory Petzer
The Drive Team has come across four very interesting mobile apps that are designed for travellers with a sense of adventure.
Instead of assisting you efficiently and promptly (as we have come to expect from any service), the aim of these apps is to do the opposite.
Quick history lesson: In the 1940s, the Situationists in Paris came up with the concept of a dérive.
A dérive is "an unplanned tour through an urban landscape directed entirely by the feelings evoked in the individual by their surroundings."
In short, it was an attempt at resistance against a routined society, while encouraging people to explore their surroundings and have real experiences.
Ask yourself: Do you always take the same route to work? Do you always shop at the same places? Maybe you should try one of these apps and have a little adventure!
The four apps differ slightly, but all have a very similar aim: Adventure!
