SAA makes good

After last week’s broadcast on “No Assistance for Assisted Passengers” Terence Pillay’s follow-up has some good news…
Last week Terence brought us the story of the elderly Bulgarian woman who flew as an assisted passenger and her passport got left behind at the security check.
She had an assistant who didn’t notice this and ground staff who didn’t do an ID check in at check-in, so she was flown to Johannesburg, not being able to speak or understand English and was made to wait around for 6 hours before anyone cottoned on to the fact that something was wrong.
At the time of the incident SAA, her carrier, completely distanced themselves from the issue, not accepting responsibility or liability for any of the costs that she incurred in rectifying the ensuing issues.
This week Terence got hold of SAA management and they eventually accepted responsibility for the problem and liability for the cost.
