Rapper gives reason for outrage
Updated | By Sihle Mthembu
The rappers have done it yet again. For some reason, rappers are all for the notion of offending people so that they will be the topic of conversation, and I guess, seeing as I’m writing about it, they’re succeeding.
The latest rapper to make headlines is Mzansi’s very own Reason. He has posted artwork tagged as #reazuschristiscummin pictured here below.
The image is for a freestyle he is set to release this coming Friday.
I personally find this a little distasteful. I understand that we have the right to freedom of expression, but with that right comes the responsibly to ensure that we don’t offend and hurt others and I know for a fact that a lot of the Christian community will be offended by this.
Similarly with the Charlie Hebdo illustration of the Prophet Mohammed which led to a shoot-out at their offices earlier this year, it is important that we respect one another and respect our differences.
So what do you think? How do you feel about Reason’s image?
