Darren could be returning to Durban a few kilos lighter.
Our East Coast Breakfast jock has been wolfing down plates of healthy meals served with hearty helpings of fresh fruit and vegetables.
These, he says are meals he doesn’t really have the time to prepare himself, which’s why he’s taking full advantage of his Swiss culinary experience.
It’s all about nutritious, small servings of wholesome food. And boy has the team taken to Swiss dining.
Have a look at the spread of delectable dishes Darren and the team have been tucking into in Arbon. We are so jealous!
For lunch on their first day, they devoured a yummy chicken salad. This isn’t the salad we’re used to having here at home. The team says it was a feast.
The chef dished up warm chicken pieces with water melon, orange slices, grated apple and lettuce among other fresh veggies.
Dinner was even better. To kick-off their three course meal, they were served a mozzarella and tomato starter with hot potato soup in shooter glasses.
A slice of pork crowned with a pineapple ring was next accompanied by crumbed potato fingers. Darren couldn’t wait to get these into his belly!
The meal ended on a high note with a serving of crème brulee and fruit. Natarah says this brulee was unique. She says, “Compared to the crème brulees I’ve had in the past, this one didn’t have a hard hat; the sugar hadn’t been caramelised.”
Natarah adds that, “What we got instead was this soft, honey-textured coating that complemented the fruit pieces perfectly! I could’ve had three more helpings!”
Monica, who works at Bioforce, made the team fresh bread rolls with figs and nuts to snack on before and during our first broadcast from Switzerland to South Africa. She also brought Madeleines which went down well with coffee!
One of Darren’s favourite meals was the healthy breakfast they were served yesterday after their show at the Bioforce offices in Roggwil.
He ate not one, not two but three servings of the yoghurt-fruit-muesli mix.
Also on offer were walnuts, almonds, dried fruit, slices of freshly baked bread with sprouts and cups of Malkosan, to aid good digestion.
Natarah tasted peppermint tea, for the first time, after her Monday lunch of salad and vegetable curry. She says it was as refreshing as eating a breath mint after a meal.
Darren has fallen in love with Switzerland. If you love to travel, this is one country you need to visit, he says.
He says, “There’s no time like the present to go and visit other countries.
East Coast Breakfast is broadcasting live from A. Vogel’s headquarters in Switzerland. These things won’t happen until you schedule it. So you have to ‘Echinaforce’ yourself.”
Our ‘punny’ Breakfast jock added, “Just listen to that little ‘vogel’ on your shoulder.”
