The debate over whether the Kruger National Park should have put down the elephant that attacked a couple in December is still raging.

This week, dramatic video footage of the incident surfaced. KNP management decided to euthanise the elephant to prevent it from hurting other people.

Jacky and her husband, who are from the East Coast, spent a day at the Kruger, following the attack. They sent through a few images they had taken of the badly damaged car which the British woman and her South African fiance were driving.  The engaged couple had to be treated after the woman suffered critical injuries and the man minor injuries.

There has a been a public uproar over the park's decision to euthanise the elephant. Kruger management again defended its decision to put down the animal yesterday saying it can understand the public outcry and anger but has asked South Africans to have confidence in its decision. It has also acknowledged that some visitors to the park behave irresponsibly.
