Jane's load shedding silver lining
Updated | By Staff Writer
Yesterday it was like load shedding was following me around - first finding me at work then greeting me as I arrived home. Then its third grand appearance was sprung on us as we were getting the kids ready for bed.
Thankfully all kids were fed and ready to snooze, and we cook with gas. The house looked so dreamlike - all candles burning and music playing through our little portable Nixon Blaster.
However, that rose-tinted picture can be flipped on its head in a heartbeat. I was so saddened to see a Facebook post from Steven Stead from Kickstart Theatre Productions stating that they just could not go on like this. This after halfway through their latest show the lights went out - and that was that. I also wonder how hospitals and restaurants handle...sure, generators are the ‘it’ word at the moment, but it must add a huge cost.
Are you seeking the silver lining and loving candlelit baths and dinners, or does this darkness make you nervous or angry?
