How old is old enough?
Updated | By Jason
The cherry on the top is when you can actually watch it at the cinema.
These days the cinema experience has been revolutionised with state of the art sound and picture quality so it’s worth the money you have to folk out, not to mention how much you have to pay for snacks and beverages. Weekends are usually the busiest at the theatre since more people have time on the hands to indulge in some good entertainment.
Here’s where it gets tricky.
Parents with younger children bring them along too. Nothing’s wrong with a child watching a movie too, is there? When I went to the cinema over the weekend, I noticed many young ones coming to watch the same movie. I was quite surprised since I was watching a three hour Bollywood hit! How was a 6 year old going to sit through a movie she could barely even understand? Was she capable of reading subtitles? I’m assuming not and, I was right. Throughout the movie children from across the auditorium moaned, groaned, cried….the list goes on!
This was not an emotional side that was a result of appreciating a movie.
No, this was because they were bored and tired! Could anyone blame them? Parents, even other adults need to realise that there are only certain movies that could catch a child’s imagination and entertain them within a time span. Choose to watch those instead of causing a disturbance to other patrons. This should be the rule till those children can appreciate and value a movie that they themselves would choose to watch. So when are they ready? When they old enough I guess.
