This June, Zakes Bantwini returns to his home province for his annual Upfront with Zakes Bantwini live concert, treating Durban fans to a not-to-be-missed, one-night only musical experience. Taking place on June 14th at the Durban ICC Arena, the show is proudly brought to fans by Ethekwini Municipality and Mayonie Productions, and will be a tribute to the youth of South Africa.

Well-loved for his exceptional talent as an entertainer, Zakes Bantwini will take to the stage, performing Jazz renditions and popular tracks from his current album, Love, Light and Music, along with other renowned tracks. This is upfront with your favourite singer, performer and musician – fans can look forward to funky house interpretations of old styles, mixed together with new sounds, perfectly acknowledging the past and experimenting with innovative arrangements.

As a respected musician in the industry, Zakes Bantwini has extended a personal invitation to fellow artists: Khaya Mthethwa, L’vovo Derrango (marking their first performance together in KZN since 2008), Black Coffee and the legendary, Themba Mkhize, to join him on stage as guest appearances. Team Zakes from the recent Clash of the Choirs television series has also promised to make an appearance and perform the Redemption song which cemented their position in the coveted top three.

“I’m so excited to bring my show home and give my loyal Durbanites the experience of Upfront with Zakes Bantwini – I know this is going to be one of my best performances to date. I’m also exceptionally passionate about the youth of our country and have dedicated this show and performance to them – they are the future of our nation.”

Zakes Bantwini has specifically requested that guests wear their school uniform to the show. Bantwini added: “I want the youth of South Africa to be proud to be attending school and the same goes for those who have completed their education – let’s wear our uniforms with pride.”
