Gone for a brew…broer!

Gone for a brew…broer!

Gabriel has made it his mission to find the best cup of coffee that Durban has to offer. Here are the establishments that are top of his list.

I made a promise to myself that no less than twice a week I will visit a particular coffee shop and see what it has to offer.

Also in the same breath, or rather same sip, I will not go to the same coffee shop more than once.

I think it's a great idea as it will give me an opportunity to really get to know the Greater Durban area and its “hidden gem” coffee shops.

So far, I have had some rather interesting hot beverage experiences.

I’ll admit that to find some of these places you’ll need Christopher Columbus or Indiana Jones to shotgun the passenger seat.

If you are keen to go and hunt for good coffee brew, try these places:

Zaras Lite at SMD Group in Ballito:

Insist on trying their chocolate croissants.

Café Valentino at The Point Waterfront

The barista can write your name in the foam on your cappuccino. Very cool.

Café Jiran on North Beach

They have a pair of very cool and safe hammocks outside. This is the most popular sitting area at this spot, and I can see why.

IWantMyCoffee at Chris Saunders Park

Great spot for working outside the office.  Great Wi-Fi signal.

Piggly Wiggly in Hillcrest

Go there hungry. The barista and the chef are very generous guys.

Green With Envy on Vause Road

One of the few coffee shops with an art gallery. Sip…look at art! Sip…look at art!

Cacao Chocolate Bar in Gateway

Great vibe and one of the best places to bring the entire family.

Taste Coffee Shop in La Lucia Mall

Bring a friend along. Pssst! Guys! Great place to impress your “coffee” date!

My list will grow as I find more and more of these fantastic places. Tweet me some of your favourite spots @GabrielSithole

What is your favourite coffee spot that Gabriel should go try out?
