Drawing the second-hand line

Drawing the second-hand line

Jane LOVES second-hand shopping, but she draws the line at used shoes.

These days I sadly don't have much time to sink my eyes into a good book.

Gone are the lazy days of lying about in the dappled sunlight slowly paging through a good book.

I miss reading - but find now when I collapse into bed the chances of me making it past the same already-read paragraph is unlikely.
What I do however have a couple of minutes for (always!) is scanning the ‘buy and swop’ pages on social media.

Oh man alive I get lost in the world of fish tanks, DVDs, dolls’ clothes, collectors’ items, clothes, treadmills (lots and lots of them) (only ever used once, apparently) jewellery and bookshelves looking for a comfortable home.

This trawling obsession lives in the same space as my tinkering around a second-hand shop.

However...some of the stuff folk post for sale is pure madness.

Like a grubby-looking deck chair with a crack in one leg going for R50 and or a pair of completely stuffed looking crutches for a couple hundred rand. And as for the pages and pages of second hand shoes! Crikey, that is where I curb my second hand enthusiasm.

Furniture, a punching bag, jewels, books and clothes I can do. But shoes?! Hell no!

Take this spread for example, posted on Gumtree...the whole lot is going for R50 - but I mean, come on, these should be given away with a blush and goodwill.

Where do you draw the line when it comes to second-hand shopping?
