Damon reflects on the life of Nelson Mandela
Updated | By Jason
I didn't really understand the importance behind what was actually happening, but I'd soon come to know how that one specific day would change our Country.
In the years following his release, Madiba dedicated his life to fight for the freedom of our people.
I never had the honour of meeting him, and I know that I'll regret that forever more.
If someone had to ask me if there was something in this icon's life that stood out for me, I'd have to say that it would be the extreme joy on his face during the 1995 World Cup.
Wearing the Springbok Rugby jersey and lifting the trophy above his head is a picture that will remain in my memory forever.
I know that we've lost one of the greatest leaders of our time but in my opinion, what is important is that we celebrate his life and the impact he had onus all.
Rest well Madiba.
We will miss your great spirit and we will never forget you.
Don't forget to read Jason and Zaba's tributes to Madiba.
