Criminal records selfie video during police chase

Let's assume you were wanted by the police. Let's assume you now found yourself in a high speed chase. Do you record a selfie video of it all, with a message to your partner? Well, this man did!

A banned driver was being chased by police, when he decided to record a selfie video at the wheel, documenting the pursuit as it happened.

Trying to get away from police officers in pursuit, 23-year-old Salim Shah raced through the streets of Burnley, England, and recorded the last 33 seconds of the chase on his mobile phone.

Shah recorded himself saying goodbye to a person, assumed to be his girlfriend.

He says into the camera: "As you can see, I am being chased by police...I love you. I'm going to prison now."

The chase lasted 17 minutes.

Shah was given a suspended sentence for disqualified driving, just two months before.

At a hearing, he admitted to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, no insurance, and for the possession of cannabis.

He was sentenced to 16 months behind bars.

The Drive Team fears this might become a precedent with other criminals trying to better this video.

With plain selfies quickly becoming more and more boring, will this type of dangerous self-indulgence become the norm?
