Binge Watching TV series

Have you ever been at a dinner party, as I was on Monday night, with personalities who are so intimidating purely because of their respective contributions to society?
Have you ever been surrounded by an entire group of people who are all exceptional in their chosen field or vocation?
Masters of their craft, captains of industry, leaders among men and women.
Well I was and I was really pleasantly surprised to discover that they are no different to either you or I in any immediately discernible way. I did, however, find this out the hard way!
In my attempt to stimulate conversation and attempt to engage them in a meaningful way, I did less to encourage conversation and rather more at keeping them at arms-length. They, it turns out, are just like everybody else who goes out to dinner parties.....they just want to have a good time and 'shoot the breeze.'
It's a bit of a tragedy that I only figured this out towards the end of the evening.
I thought I was awfully clever when I engaged with international marketing expert Serame Taukobong and asked if he thought the success of the 'Ayoba' campaign could be attributed to our Nation's willingness to assimilate new culture and new language into our zeitgeist.
I then went on to ask him if it is possible that neuro-linguistic programming may have occurred thanks to the widespread, and incessant, World Cup MTN ad campaign.
My first question, after "Hello I'm Darren" to Dion Chang was if he possibly agrees with both Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk that Artificial Intelligence will be the greatest threat to the human race in the next 10 years.
I tried to bait Professor of Business Science's, Nick Binedell, about whether the collapse of capitalist pseudo-democracies will occur with a violent revolution or a more gentle organic transformation like the Information Age has introduced so far.
I even thought it would be tantalizing to ask worldwide celebrated storyteller Dr Gcina Mhlope about how fairy tales, it has been suggested, perpetuate male superiority and patriarchal societies.
In each instance I was given an adequate and considered answer but it certainly wasn't the catalyst into the stimulating debate which I had anticipated.
My instincts told me that I was missing the point completely.
So I decided to take a step back and eavesdrop on the individual satellite conversations which were occurring in pockets of two or three of these exceptional people at a time.
I was truly amazed at what I learned.
These extra ordinary people, these distinguished individuals talk about the same stuff you and I do! Every day, normal, stock standard chit-chat from the weather to the price of petrol; from the Sharks referee to the EFF's red overalls.
But the one subject that got everyone talking, at the same time, on one topic was the most surprising of all... The one subject that dominated the majority of the dinner party conversation was;"Before PVR, Netflix and streaming... what was that one series on TV that you would cancel a night out for - just so you didn't miss it?"
What series have you binged on, for how long, what was the series?
