The Big Favour helps a family heal

The loss of a loved one is never easy. When that loved one is your 10 day old baby, it's arguably even more difficult to deal with.

Trudy wrote in to the Big Favour asking for help with her son, Simon and her daughter-in-law, Cherie.

The couple has been emotionally shattered after the death of their 10 day old baby.

Trudy says the problems started during pregnancy at around 20 weeks, with Cherie in and out of hospital.

With the regular trek from Underberg into town each time, it put a huge emotional and financial strain on the whole family.

Baby Skyla was born at 25 weeks and, after a long struggle, her health started to improve and things were looking good.

Sadly, Skylar did not make it in the end.

Trudy wrote to us asking if there was anything we could do to arrange a little get-away for Simon and Cherie just to help with the healing process.

Thanks to Nikki Tilley and the team from South Coast Tourism, we were able to arrange a two-night stay at the Blue Marlin Hotel, including dinner, bed and breakfast.

South Coast Tourism also included a visit to Crocworld and a R1000 voucher to put towards spa treatments or a boat trip.

We know absolutely nothing could ever replace what was lost, but we really hope this little get-away will help Simon and Cherie on the road to recovery.
