Always hunt the silver lining

Always hunt the silver lining

Have you had a rough situation recently where the silver lining peeked through?

Yesterday the first tweet I sent was hunt down the positive in every situation.

To be fair that is all too easy when things are going well, but when not, we have to search somewhat deeper.

Last night at about 6:30pm the road outside our home became a hub of activity as tar trucks plugged away, orange night lights swinging wildly, jack hammers going...

Cooper was warmly dressed in his dinosaur suit and hand in hand with dad went to check out the action.

Not 15 minutes later one of the trucks went through our power line and plunged us into the reminiscence of load shedding.

In making matters worse, on closer inspection we saw that the truck had actually stretched the power cable from my garage and pulled a section of the roof with it and in turn cracked the truss in the garage down the middle. Not ideal, right?

Silver lining?

Indeed.

I got to watch my eldest play and revel in the joy of shining a torch onto his most favorite dinosaur toy, making giant shadows over the lounge wall - for ages.

Hysteria mounted when dad had his shadow head "eaten" by the T-Rex.

Rocco and Lula slept though the chaos which was more then amazing as two crying baby twins would have upset the romanticism somewhat.

Our home looked so beautiful bathed in candle lights and a starlight braai torch in mouth was also pretty comical.

Just when we were settling into the low light feeling of the evening, the lights were back on.

The Electricity Department's service and efficiency is world class.

Usually our evenings are full of lights, music, TV's and all things bright.

It was such a joy being unplugged.

Now to get my roof fixed.
