Zulu to miss Nelson Mandela challenge

Chippa United's defender, Siyabonga Zulu, has been ruled out of Bafana Bafana's Nelson Mandela Challenge squad against Ivory Coast at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit tomorrow.

Bafana head coach Shakes Mashaba will not be able to call upon Zulu after he injured his ankle in the build up to the game.

He was one of four Chippa players called up to the senior squad, along with Chrisopher Komane, David Zulu and Thamsanqa Sangweni.

Mashaba's preparations have been dealt a huge blow with some clubs refusing to release players as the match doesn’t fall within the Fifa calendar.

Kaizer Chiefs's Brilliant Khuzwayo and Eric Mathoho were not released by their club, while Orlando Pirates midfielder Oupa Manyisa is excused  in order to recover from injury.

SAFA media officer, Matlhomola Morake confirmed the news on Twitter this morning.

Kick-off is at 15H00.
