Westville finished top of their pool and progressed through to the Playoff‘s where they met traditional rivals Maritzburg College.
The game was a wonderful spectacle of 7’s flair and skill with both teams displaying great attacking rugby.
Westville conceded the first try when some poor defence in the midfield allowed a College back just enough space to penetrate and burst away to score the opening try, a try that would come back to haunt the Westville team.
At the final whistle College and Westville were drawn at 24 – 24.
The tournament rules dictated that the team who scored the first try would progress and so it was that College advanced to the Cup Semi’s and Westville would go through to the Shield Semi’s.
