WATCH - KZN garrick fishing action
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Winter and spring means garrick fishing here in KwaZulu-Natal. I had the pleasure of catching and releasing two large garrick off Zinkwazi back in 2014.
Garrick are known as powerful fighters and are caught both off the shore and boats in KZN.
Durban harbour is known to host garrick for short periods of the year and harbour anglers tend to use live mullet in pursuit of these gamefish.
Garrick are clean fighters and tend not to seek reefs of rocks to cut the line when hooked.
I caught my two garrick off a boat and have never caught one from the shore.
I did hook one at Brighton Beach on the Bluff several years back, but that one managed to get away.
Today we go to Orange Rocks near Uvongo on the KZN south coast.
We have featured action from this famous fishing spot before.
