VIDEO: Umdloti daga salmon action
Updated | By Andre Bloem
Daga salmon can be caught in both deep and shallow water.
I caught one in a gully at Brighton Beach on the Bluff several years ago.
It gulped my live karanteen only a few metres from the edge of the tidal pool near Cave Rock.
I have seen daga caught off both north and south pier.
I have also heard of giant daga being caught in the Knysna lagoon and can recall a few large ones landed in Lake St Lucia before the closing of the estuary mouth.
However, fishing off a boat in deeper water is perhaps the most reliable way to fish for daga.
The footage below was shot off Umdloti.
Live shad and live mullet are other bait options when targeting daga.
I suspect a live blacktail would also work and even a decent pinky.
