Captain Blair Wiggins hooks into a monster tarpon on a hot day in Florida.

I saw plenty of sweat at the Comrades Marathon over the past weekend.

It is something you expect to see when someone runs from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

However, sweating is not necessarily associated with fishing.

Today we see a celebrity angler given quite a workout by a trophy tarpon.

These fish can weigh up to around 140kg and this one is still relatively small at around 55kg or so.

I did break a sweat at Quattro King of the Sea last month, but not because of the tuna I hooked and lost.

It was the choppy water that had me hanging on tightly on the run to and from Protea Banks.

I also had a bruised knee to show for what was a bumpy surf launch at Shelly Beach.

Captain Wiggins finds himself on a much calmer sea, but is hooked into a much bigger fish.

Alain Tardin and I plan to go couta fishing soon off Durban and hope to have a catch of our own to show this month.

It has been 6 weeks since Alain caught and released four yellowfin tuna on the same afternoon off Umhlanga.

My barren spell is much longer...
