VIDEO: Tahiti surfing spectacular
Gabriel Medina has won the Billabong Pro Tahiti on the elite surfing World Championship Tour.
Medina, the championship leader, defeated Kelly Slater in the final.
Their showdown was surfed in epic conditions at Teahupo'o.
Medina won an amazing final by 18.96 to 18.93.
Medina had earlier defeated Bede Durbridge in the semi-finals.
Slater beat John John Florence in his semi-final heat.
SA surfers, Travis Logie and Jordy Smith, both failed to progress beyond the second round.
Logie was forced to withdraw after hurting his foot on a reef during the opening round.
