VIDEO: Spectacular queenfish battle
Updated | By Staff Writer
A queenfish takes to the air as it attempts to shake a hook.
I have seen queenfish caught on live pinky in Durban harbour and was once on a boat that landed a big one on live shad off the Durban beachfront.
The lucky angler on my boat used a float to keep his live shad close to the surface. Several of us had earlier had our live baits taken by skates and sharks feeding on the bottom.
I also have a clear recollection of a queenfish going airborne in the St Lucia estuary. That was a pretty spectacular jump that succeeded in gaining the queenfish its freedom.
Our footage below features several leaps.
WARNING - One bit of bad language from the angler.
