However, this absence is set to end this weekend with an appearance at the Imperial Nissan Zululand Couta Classic.

I will be back out on the water chasing couta off Mtunzini.

The biggest couta this weekend will net the angler involved no less than R30 000.

I was lucky enough to fish in both Quattro King of the Sea and the Durban Ski Boat Club Jetski Bonanza last year.

I did draw a blank on both occasions with a tuna throwing my hook right next to the boat during Quattro off Shelley Beach.

I sure hope my competitive fortunes will improve off Zululand this weekend.

I will also be back at Quattro at Pumula Beach next month.

However, my focus this week is firmly on Mtunzini and my hopes of catching a big couta.

I will let you know how I go and will be sharing results and photos from the competition here on the Sportswave page early next week.

For now let me leave you with a taste of what may transpire at the Imperial Nissan Zululand Couta Classic this weekend.

I suspect the winning couta will be a lot bigger than the ones in the footage below.

Last year a couta of 27.6kg took the first prize at Mtunzini.
