Natal snoek is a popular species targeted by ocean anglers here in KwaZulu-Natal.
Cape snoek prefer the colder waters off the Western Cape, Northern Cape and Namibia.
These fish can grow up to two metres in length, but are thin and tend not to weight more than about six kilograms.
Cape snoek are often caught on anchovy or pilchard and are also known to feed on crustaceans.
