Top surfing in Durban
Updated | By Andre Bloem

South Africa's best under-20 surfers will soon be in Durban to compete in the Quiksilver Pro Junior.
The contest takes place on 18 and 19 May at Durban's New Pier and is the one and only ASP pro junior event on the ASP Africa calendar with a total of US$ 5 000 (R45 000) in prize money and valuable ASP points.
Adding to an action-packed weekend will be the Quiksilver King of the Groms. It caters for the under-16, under-14 and under-12 age groups. A total of R22 000 in prize money is available, as well as valuable PST (Pro Surf Tour) points.
Quiksilver, meanwhile, has launched a global campaign allowing any surfer under the age of 16 to submit a video of themselves surfing. This could see them winning an all-expenses paid trip to France to compete at the King of the Groms world finals. This event is held in conjunction with the Quiksilver Pro world tour event in September.
